Greenhouse and outdoor vegetable plants
Perennials: From Pulmonarias and Hellebores in the spring to Schizostylis in late
winter, a good selection from this group will provide your garden with flower for
most of the year. Most but not all loose their foliage in the winter; the bare stems
or old flower-
Shrubs: Form the main framework of a garden and can provide colour with flowers, foliage or bark throughout the year. They need choosing with care to ensure they fit the space allotted to them. Many of the new varieties have been bred to grow much smaller and need the minimum of pruning.
Climbers: Not just for covering walls, but old trees, obelisks or simple pillars, climbers grow faster then anything else. There aren’t many evergreen climbers: honeysuckles begin to burst into leaf in January and what some lack in winter foliage they make up for in flower and scent in the summer. Choose the right varieties and either mix them together or grow less vigorous ones over flowering shrubs to give a longer flowering period.
Tender Perennials and annuals: These are the plants that those new to gardening meet
first. Fast to establish, most have long flowering seasons, vibrantly coloured flowers
and they are ideal for pots and the most visited areas of the garden where constant
colour is important. They make a stunning display. You all know Fuchsia and Geraniums;
now we stock lots of the new introductions: Surfinias, a non seeding vigorous growing
petunia-
